Senior 2

One counselor asks,

Pray that the one-on-ones go well today and that the girls will continue to open up and share their hearts with me.

Also, pray for a certain camper to be able to fully understand the messages and that I would have wisdom to be able to encourage her and give her different things and ways to help her learn.

Lastly, pray that my girls will remain patient and open to what the LORD has in store for them throughout the week.

LORD, SURPRISE US!

What we've done: We have all been participating well.  The girls have all been extraordinary.

How you can pray for our cabin:

That we will be able to strongly push through the end of this week and we will not just have an emotional high, but go home with changed hearts, even more in love with Jesus.  Also that we will live with integrity.  Please pray for the girls who are confused, that the Lord will replace the confusion with clear understanding and love for Him.

What we've done: Built friendships, worshiped and learned from the chapels each morning and evening.  Played fun games-even a new one, "Ga-Ga Ball" in the rain.  We've laughed.  Laughed some more and really enjoyed getting to know each other through 1 on 1's and activities together.

How you can pray:

Pray for unity among our cabin and for safety with the rain and all the activities.  Pray most of all for healing and love as we learn and feel how deep God's love is for each of us and how to respond well to that.

6.20.12 Monday went really well.  We had beautiful weather so we were able to play plunger ball and 4-square for most of the afternoon.  Some one on ones happened-it was really great to re-connect considering 7 out of the 8 campers we had in the same cabin last year!  So it's been great getting to re-connect with each other

Prayer is needed for some of the girls to really be able to feel how real, alive, and big Christ's love is for them.  It's also needed along the lines of friendships needing to be rekindled, hearts being softened and rededicated to Christ and just rest and energy staying at a high, especially for the staff.  I love my girls and I just pray I'm able to continue to show them that, as an overflow of Christ's love for me!

Maintenance prayer report

Maintenance staff has been busy keeping the bathrooms clean, picking up groceries each day, mowing, keeping the camp clean, etc.  Staff ripped off the "lean to" on the caretaker's garage so a new roof can be put on in the near future.   (Fun fact: The lean-to used to be the girls outhouse before we had indoor plumbing here at DLBC.  On one of the walls was written, "Brenda Bordeau    Walker, Minn  1954")-the more things change, the more things stay the same.

Beach-front prayer report

Today we had a great time swimming at the beach and playing in the sand.  Lots of shrieks of delight were heard.  The staff and counselors were constantly on the alert making sure all the kids were safe, and were fanned out across the edge of the deeper water (in the ropes).  Everyone seemed to be having fun.  The kids may lose the privilege of bringing canteen items to the beach tomorrow because they didn't pick up their garbage right away until they're counselor had The Ash Boys clean up the beach.  These are all learning experiences that we try to communicate with grace.  Please pray for continued safety at the beach and for our lifeguard and her family, as her grandpa is not doing well health-wise.

Craft shop prayer update

Today we painted in the craft shop.  The kids were introduced to Grandma Mary who has been involved at the camp for years.  She chooses and brings all the crafts for this age group.  It's nice for the kids to have a Grandpa & Grandma at the camp.  The kids painted wooden and ceramic items.  We chatted with them about how things were going in their cabins and they talked about they are all becoming friends.  For such a large camp, the personalities are clicking well.  Grandma is in her 80's but wanted to be the one to clean out all the paint trays and persevered until the job was done.

Kitchen staff prayer update

We're having a blast.  There's been no stress.  We baked a ton of molasses and chocolate chip cookies.  We've had just enough food for every meal.  For lunch we had two leftover bowls of chili.  Today instead of hurrying through dish washing, we took time to pray with a counselor.  Pray for energy and wisdom with amounts, etc in the kitchen and that the kids would feel loved by the cooks.

Duck Inn Cabin Update

Campers say: we like chapel, meeting new friends (x2), crafts, carpetball, swimming, art, cupcakes, chapelCounselors say: Everyone's doing well except we had one camper not feeling well today (her mom is on staff so that helps).  Please pray for her and Channyn's health (migraines, etc.).  Four campers received Christ as Savior last night!  Pray for continued processing of what it means to trust Jesus & follow Him.
